NC State Athletics announced Thursday that Doak Field will see $15 million in improvements to the field, performance facilities, and fan experience amenities following the 2022 season.
This funding comes courtesy of efforts by the Wolfpack Club, with fundraising still ongoing. In the event that fundraising exceeds the planned $15 million, additional phases will be implemented as part of the improvements.
NC State Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan described the goal of the project as putting “Doak Field at Dail Park among the premier facilities in college baseball.”
The 2,200 seat Doak Field, which opened in 1966, last saw a renovation following the 2002 season, with upgrades completed in 2004.
As part of the renovations, the field will be resurfaced and equipped with LED lighting as well as an upgraded scoreboard and sound system. The fans will reap the benefits as well, with improved seating and concessions as well as a shaded area.
The NC State baseball program is coming off a trip to the College World Series in 2021, they open their season against Evansville at home on February 18th.
